Writing under a pseudonym was a choice made out of both necessity and care. Above all, I wanted to protect those involved, especially my sister. This book was never meant to bring her harm or discomfort, and I don’t know if she will ever learn of its existence. But in the end, Splinter was never about her—it was about me. And, in many ways, it is about you, too.
